home our story music meet the band videos connect more the dylan thomas sound project send videos to view more head to our youtube page here contact ​ gwyn griffiths [email protected] 07711 589 598 © 2018 the dylan thomas sound project the dylan thomas sound project our story so far ​ ​ following a trip to laugharne in january of 2015, i felt inspired to create some music that would blend with the wonderful poetry of dylan thomas's . i started by listening to a recording of dylan reading "do not go gentle into that good night'' and found that his rhythmical delivery sparked an abundance of musical possibilities. with a combination of a strong melody and dylan's beautiful words, i was able to create this haunting soundscape which reflected the true message of his poem. i was so inspired by the outcome, i started work on a second poem, ''the force that through the green fuse''.. once completed, i contacted the dylan thomas foundation to let them know what i was doing, then hannah ellis (dylan's granddaughter) got in touch and told me how much she really enjoyed our modern approach to her grandfather's poetry, so as you can imagine, it was very uplifting for us to receive validation from the thomas family. ​ as a result of her encouraging words, i decided to continue adapting more poems ( 17 so far) with a view to performing them live around theatres and literary festivals. ​ since we launched ourselves in march 2016, we've performed many shows across wales including theatres, festivals and a memorable performance at the dylan thomas boat house ( concert in the garden) to coincide with international dylan day. six months later, we received a personal invitation from hannah to perform at westminster abbey for her grandfather's memorial service which was a wonderful experience. apart from domestic interest, the project have been invited to perform in canada and new york where dylan's fine legacy still resonates. ​ in order for the project to continue , we will need some investment to create a professional touring production. this will involve a modern multi media approach whereby the band will interact with background imagery. we recently applied for a grant, so if we're successful, ( we should know soon) then our short term goals and ambitions will be realised. we'll let you know. :) ​ ​ ​ meet the band meet the band gwyn griffiths ​ guitars/keyboards/ drums. oratory/creator of the project ​ ​ lucy jenkins- vocals/guitar ailsa mair hughes - cello/guitar ​ cerys havana harp and piano pixie tom guitar/violin/keyboards lee walker bass guitar videos being but men i have longed to move away hunchback in the park compilation video do not go gentle ...( infinity mix) the force that through the green fuse do not go gentle into that good night fern hill in my craft or sullen art/ceremony after a fire raid
